Dr Raphael Faiss

For the past 15 years, Raphael Faiss has explored altitude training strategies. Notably, with the development of the Repeated-Sprint training in Hypoxia (RSH). Raphael then worked as scientific consultant for the Swiss cycling national teams, preparing track athletes and mountain-bikers for the Olympic games through innovative approaches, including hypoxic and heat training.

Since 2015, Raphael has been teaching exercise physiology, nutrition and anti-doping sciences as a senior lecturer. In recent years, he was in charge of the implementation of an anti-doping laboratory in Nairobi (Kenya) approved by the World Anti-Doping Agency. He is currently director for the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Cycling Coaching organised with the UCI.

Recent projects include altitude training camps with professional cycling teams, investigation of steroidal and endocrine response to heat and altitude and coaching of Women’s World Tour cyclists. Raphael has contributed to more than 65 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and numerous interventions in local, national and international media and conferences.
